Become a Net Farmer!

Why don't you join Virtual Tambo? You can participate with as many people as you like for one application. Apply with your family, friends, colleagues, neighbors..., just anybody you like!

    ■Duration■
Approximately 7 months from June to December
       Planting: June 22nd (Sun) *tentative
Harvesting: October 19th (Sat), 20th (Sun)
       *tentative

    ■What happens■
You become a Virtual Tambo owner. You can see how your rice is growing at any time through this page. You can also participate in the actual planting, mowing or harvesting. After harvesting, the rice is yours. Some of them will be brewed into sake by Konishi Shuzo Brewery who is popular for their sake brand, Shirayuki.
We are also planning to run the participants' reports on this page.

    ■Your harvest■
We estimate our harvest to be approximately 40kg of rice and 6 bottles (720ml each) of sake (Tokubetsu-Honjozo-shu, or one of the premium types of brew) for each participant.
However, the amount is subject to change due to this season's weather and other natural environmental condition. (We are farmers coping with nature. So work hard, and pray to god for the good harvest!)

After taking out the appropriate amount of rice for sake brewing, we will divide the crop evenly to participants, polish them and deliver to you directly from the rice field by Takkyubin. In order for you to enjoy the fresh taste of rice, we will polish and deliver your rice twice, half at a time. Your sake will be delivered directly from the brewery.

    ■Participation Fee■
45,000yen for one share which covers:

    Membership fee2,000yen
    Rice (Approx. @5,500 yen/ 10kg x 40kg) 22,000yen
    Rice delivery (From Tatsuno city)2,000yen
    Sake (Approx. @3,500yen/bottle x 6)21,000yen
Sake delivery (From Konishi-shuzo brewery in Itami city) 1,000yen

  • We figure out the above participation fee based on the prices generally considered to be appropriate in the market. However, it could be much higher than this; Your rice is grown by the organic method which requires Sakumoto-san, the rice field owner, to work much harder than he usually does, and your sake is practically priceless because it must be brewed in such a small quantity. What's more, all the Internet facilities to run this program cost millions of yen.

  • Why do we invite you for 45,000 yen each then, you might ask. It's because we think it's against our policy to ask you for more than what you usually pay for rice or sake. And because there are people who understand what we want to do and volunteer to provide us with what we need to run this program for a considerably low price.

  • We, the Virtual Tambo Committee, would like you to understand this unique situation and invite you to participate in the program.

For those of you who want to participate, fill in the application form and send it through E-mail or fax. We will send you further information. Thank you.
