Growing rice through the Internet. Here is the outline of the project. Experience rice growing with us. We will be running a real-time picture of the rice field in Tatsuno city, Hyogo pref. on this page 24 hours a day all through the rice growing season from planting to harvesting .It is like you, the Virtual farmer, is living next door to the field. You can see how your rice is growing at any time. The breed of rice is called Hi-no-hikari, or The Light of the Sun. It is a delicious new rice hybrid created in 1989, whose father is a famous Koshihikari, and its mother a Kogane-bare. We'll grow Hi-no-hikari organically from start to finish. The rice will be finished off by sun drying after harvesting. This familiar by-gone way of rice harvesting in Japan in Fall is truly rare to see today. But you will! Your rice will be polished down to 60% after harvesting, and brewed into Tokubetsu-honjozo-shu, or one of the premium types of brew. Enjoy fresh sake made from your fresh rice! Various off line events are also available. You can participate in the actual planting, mowing and harvesting. Care your own rice with our own hand, and let's celebrate the harvest together. |
